Ylang Ylang Espresso - Eau de Parfum Mini

Yuck!

I blind bought this, but should have read the reviews beforehand. It was an immediate regret and I returned it the same day it arrived in the mail. This smells like rotting wood, cigarettes, old volcanic ash and coffee grounds. Barf! I immediately returned it.

Aromamazing

This smells amazing. I love coffee and hate cigarettes, but I don’t think that it smells like either. This has an aroma of crushed violets and caramel. It reminds me of the fragrance Raven by Ellis Brooklyn.

Unique but not for me.

I did really want to like this but ultimately it's just a bit too rich/heavy for me. I appreciate it's uniqness as well as that it's not a saccharine gourmand but it did start to make me nauseous. I really do hate that! because it's such an interesting combination of notes.

Absolutely loved this fragrance! I understand it isn't for everyone, but it's deep, spicy, and warm, which is exactly what I want. It makes me feel so sexy! Definitely going to repurchase.

Another sniff to love it!

I’m another person who hated this when I first smelled it. But when winter came and I gave it another try, wow! My husband has even asked what I’m wearing and told me it smelled like a bonfire in the best way with a coffee undertone. I really do love it!

Chiming in to say I had the same experience as other reviewers: I bought this and several other travel size sprays from Floral Street as a blind buy, then put this in the “sell or trade” pile immediately after smelling it. It was too loud, too mature, too chypre for my taste. But after months I happened to give it another sniff, put it in my wrist and literally couldn’t stop smiling I loved it so much. Now I want to wear it all the time. I get the espresso, but in a roasted bean way and not a cup of coffee… I’m actually not sure what ylang ylang smells like but I’d compare this to jasmine forward gourmands, but with a more liquor forward scent than most gourmands. It is definitely a warm scent best for evenings and cooler weather. A little goes a long way. For context my other fave scents are FS Arizona Bloom and Orchid Vanille, TF Tobacco Vanille and Ombré Leather, Atelier Vanille Intensee, Different Company Majaina Sin, Kayali Vanilla and Lovefest, and Clean Reserve Radiant Nectar and Skin.

This smells like cigarettes. I have never smelled a perfume so awful. I can’t believe someone made this and thought it smelled good and wanted other people to buy it. -100/10

Wasn’t my favorite at first

I got the discovery set and when I was smelling them all this was the worst out the pack. I guess because of how different it smelled compared to the others. It was too heavy for me personally and it smelled like the notes weren’t coming together. But months later, for some reason I decided to give it another whiff and surprisingly I like it now. I really think it was because I smelled them all at once. I took a chance and sprayed it on me and it smells like honey and flowers on my skin. I can’t stop sniffing myself. Plus it layers well with Clean Reserves Skin. I’ll definitely buy a full size now!

Sexy, Sophisticated, and Addictive Scent!

This is the only perfume I have tested that went from love to confusion and back to downright LOVE. When I first read the notes (tiramisu, coffee, cacao, floral notes) and smelled the perfume from the bottle, I fell in love with it. But when I sprayed it on myself, I was left with confusion from just how complex this perfume was with the tiramisu and coffee notes mixing with some woody, bright note in the first few minutes. I felt conflicted and confused with what I was smelling so I immediately scrubbed it off and put it away, thinking it wasn't for me. Fast forward 4 months later, on a cold, windy night, I pulled this out of my cabinet and sprayed it on myself. With a clear mind and no expectations, I was able to better understand this perfume and just how beautiful it was. In the initial spray, I immediately get tiramisu and cacao notes with some brighter notes of pepper and rose. Afterwards, the coffee, patchouli, wood, and (more) cacao notes come through making the scent a beautiful smoky, dark coffee bean scent. In the dry down, the whipped cream and ylang ylang notes appear, which adds this very creamy and delectable quality to the dark coffee bean scent. This is an extremely sexy, delicious, slightly sweet, and sophisticated scent. Can imagine this being worn on someone mature and when I say mature, I don’t mean a specific age. Wearing this perfume is more about the mindset and the way one carries themselves when putting this on. Irresistibly sexy, bold, yet alluring and cozy, the duality of this perfume allows this to be worn on many different occasions like a fun night out with friends, on a nice dinner date, or to an elegant event. For me, this perfume is so addicting to smell and elevates my confidence each time. Highly recommend for those who like coffee and/or are looking for a sexy, alluring, sophisticated yet cozy scent. Also recommend taking the time to get to understand and test this before deciding to purchase (as with all perfumes). Love this!!

The review is long but it’s worth it!

TLDR: if you like unique scents, smelling like office appropriate/sophisticated incense, and having a 12+H wear this could be for you but PLEASE TEST THIS BEFORE YOU BUY IT. I have been eyeing this perfume up for ages and finally got it in the sampler set and this is even better than I had thought! In the first 15 minutes of wearing this it pulls a fairly floral leaning towards rosy (which is typical for me.) But after that 15 minutes the rose lessens and the rest of the floral balances out and becomes exactly the scents I love: jasmine/ylang-ylang/tiramisu-vanilla/espresso. The tiramisu/vanilla is the last part to fade on me. I personally like this for everyday but for others I could see it being used for a night time or winter scent. I typically wear a nag-champa oil but that causes some people headaches or allergies but this one doesn’t! I have gotten a lot of compliments from coworkers and randoms when I wear this. Most perfumes fade on me quickly but because this perfume is partially oil based so it lasts 12+ hours on me even after working and sweating all day. I can definitely agree with most of the comments here when they say test before buying because it’s one of those perfumes where it will either smell exactly how you want, or pull one harsh note that would give everyone a headache depending on your body chemistry.

This is no Black Opium!!!

Let me say it right away this is no black opium and not a safe blind buy! It’s the closest thing to Cafe Tuberosa by Atelier Cologne a deep dark unisex coffee fragrance. It’s not those gourmand, floral, sweet feminine fragrance with some hint of coffee for that check the numerous black opium flankers, D&G the only one, Montale,… It’s a has jar of old coffee bean, tobacco , and pure bitter cocoa vibe and could be worn by a gentleman or one lady who is not afraid to take up the space (which could be a god thing or not depending on who you like) This is a BEAST MODE fragrance sillage, projection and longevity are great. It’s is not a good blind buy unless you are an experienced fraghead who like this type of fragrances. I personally do not get the floral notes just the deep notes. Needless to say I absolutely adore it. I layer it with some really sweet perfume like Sugarful if I’m feeling playful.
